In a land where summers can last decades and winters a lifetime, trouble is brewing. Long ago, in a time forgotten, a preternatural event threw the seasons out of balance. He values kindness, goodness, and honor – he just recognizes that these things aren’t always compatible with survival. Despite his dark world view and tendency to verbally brutalize anyone who gets in his way, Tyrion is generally a good man. He has an acid tongue and is capable of talking his way through just about anything. Tyrion has been mistreated his entire life, and has developed a cynicism as thick as armor in order to help himself cope. Personality… clever, witty, and resilient. Actually, war seems fairly likely regardless, since the callow and cruel Joffrey seems a ripe target for all sorts of aspirants to the throne and makes more enemies each day. If the secret were to get out it would undoubtedly start a war for the Iron Throne – a war Tyrion would be called upon to help the Lannisters win. However, unbeknownst to most of the kingdom, Cersei’s children are actually the result of her incestuous affair with her twin brother Jaime. Tyrion’s sister Cersei was married to the King Robert Baratheon, and her children are poised to inherit the throne. Recent history has been kind to the Lannisters. Although deep down he just wants a woman to love him for who and what he is, and not simply for his coin purse.Ĭhallenge… helping his family retain power. Being a dwarf, Tyrion doesn’t attract a lot of women, and so he gets his romantic kicks through prostitutes. His brain is his best tool and he keeps it sharp…except when he feels like blacking out and hitting up a brothel. He turns to his vices to cope with the emotional scars and reads voraciously to stay ahead of those who tormented him. Interests… drinking, prostitutes, reading, and dishing out biting one-liners. As a result he’s never had to work a day in his life, but has also spent every day of his life training to rule and maintain the power of the Lannister name. Tyrion is a member of one of the Great Houses of the Seven Kingdoms, the sprawling and ancient noble dynasties that control Westeros. He is of particular use in the capital city of King’s Landing, where a perceptive mind is worth any number of swords. While his physical abilities aren’t much to speak of, he’s one of the smartest men in Westeros and often aids his family with his razor-sharp wits. Tyrion is met with revulsion and hatred from most of his family, a fact that pushes him to desire their approval all the more. Secondly his mother died giving birth to him, an event that was obviously outside of his control, but one which his father and sister have never forgiven him for. First, he was born a dwarf, a condition that caused his father to write him off. Tyrion’s childhood was marred by two tragedies, both occurring at birth. Grew up… at Casterly Rock, the ancestral home of the noble house Lannister.
